I sent out my questionnaire to lots of participants. At the end of the surveys, I got 405 responses in my questionnaire. Here are the results.

Raw Data

Surprisingly that 89.4% of respondents from the questionnaire have a positive response about an earworm. They enjoy having a tune stuck in their heads. But for the 10.6% of the respondents, most of them are people who study music for 3-8 years, feel unhappy and annoyed while earworm happens.

The table below shows the classical music pieces that once stuck in people head

Discussions

1. Earworm pieces can have both simple and complex melody.

2. Music education and musical experiences are crucial factors that make people earworm differently.

3. Not only music, but earworm pieces can also be a jingle from television and radio advertising. Additionally, advertising takes a role as a trigger that makes music or songs recall easily.

4. Most of the earworm pieces are songs that have lyrics.

5. Music students mostly chose their major piece as their earworm piece.
